Laurence ACERBO, in your opinion, who is concerned by sustainable development?

If we interpret the concept of 'sustainable development' – a little vague for many people – by a means of development meeting the needs of current generations without compromising the quality of life or even of survival of future generations, we can see that our whole society, all countries, the whole planet, are concerned…


So why companies too?

Companies are at the heart of the production/consumption system. They have – at their own level, and whatever their activity (industrial or services) – a primordial role to play. That's why a company's performance may be considered not only in financial terms but also according to the interests of the community and the environment in which it operates.
It's also a good idea to remember that each one of us, as a consumer, has an important role to play.


And what does Sustainable Development mean for the ONET Group?

For our Group, a commitment to Sustainable Development means, above all, taking into consideration the impact and the risks generated by our different activities. This can be represented by the following questions:

• economically speaking, how can we improve our financial performance and how does that contribute to local economic development?
• environmentally speaking, are our activities compatible with nature conservation?
• socially speaking, what are the consequences of our activities on our different stakeholders: our employees, suppliers and subcontractors, our clients and society in general?

The answers, given daily by operational action plans, aim to articulate economic, environmental and social development within a common approach. The interest of this type of commitment resides also in the transversal approach within the company: sustainable development has to integrate all management components (Operational, Human Resources, finance, Purchasing, Communication), thus constituting a genuine vector of cohesion and identity.
