1860
The first train arrived in Marseilles Saint Charles Station in 1848. Marseilles was living through one of its great periods of economic prosperity, due in particular to the trade of exotic goods. The hills were scattered with windmills. Semolina and flour-milling activities were expanding rapidly. Marseilles was increasingly an import-export centre and goods were transported in sacks requiring handling and stevedoring. This was to become the first activity of the company created by Mr. Hippolyte FORMAT in 1860, which would soon also offer cleaning services for the windmills and would become, many years later, the ONET Group.
1924
Mr Hippolyte REINIER, Hippolyte FORMAT's grandson, took charge of the business, leading to its remarkable expansion. Faced with rapid industrial development and strengthened by requests from the SNCF, the company continues to develop beyond the city: it sets up offices in Savoie, Languedoc-Roussillon, Lyons and Nice. Increasing mechanisation continues with the arrival of the first crane in 1934 and the first forklift trucks in 1944. Cleaning has now become the company's main activity.
1968
The first offices in a foreign country are set up in Switzerland. Today the Group has foreign subsidiaries in Switzerland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, Italy and the Principality of Monaco. This is completed by the EEIG Euroliance meaning demand can be met effectively.
1973
Under the impetus of Mr Louis REINIER (Mr Hippolyte REINIER's son) the consultancy, training engineering and professional insertion structure called 'Formation Services' is created. This organisation is now the in-service training structure for the ONET Group. It manages over 5,500 training courses, representing more than 110,000 hours of training a year.
1986
A pyramid structure concentrated at the top of the company ONET S.A. is set up. This restructuring means the company's shares can be floated on the Paris Stock Exchange (Second Market at that time) in 1987. A little more than 10% of the capital is thus open to the public. The REINIER family, nevertheless, retains more than 87% of the capital of ONET S.A.
1991
The companies of the Group are split into Branches, defined according to their key professions. An Economic Interest Grouping, ASSISTANCE SERVICES, (created in 1977) made up of the Group's companies, brings together centralised general services for these companies: central management control, IT, accounting, communication, insurance, real estate management, social documentation etc….
1996
The ONET Group takes over TELEM, one of the leading electronic security companies in France.
1997
Each Branch offers a broader range of services:
- Cleaning, ultra-cleaning, cleaning operations in industrial processes, logistics and handling, airport assistance, transport cleaning services (rail, bus, underground, tramway) event management cleaning and maintenance.
- Extreme Environment services and technologies (nuclear and industrial)
- Surveillance, telesurveillance and electronic security
- Temporary Staff, training and recruitment agencies.
1999
The ONET Group creates, in conjunction with the English Group O.C.S. and the German Group GEGENBAUERBOSSE, the E.E.I.G. EUROLIANCE so as to offer its range of services across the whole continent. The Group also takes over COMEX NUCLEAIRE which develops innovative engineering and complex industrial intervention solutions.
2000
The ONET Group takes over the SAFEN RAILWAY COMPANY whose core business is cleaning.
The first years of the new century are also partnership years. The Extreme Environment Technologies Division develops strong ties with key players in the nuclear and industrial sectors: MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (Japan), STUDSVIK (Sweden), AECL (Canada), ENS (USA), NUKEM (Germany) and EIFFAGE (France). The Temporary Staff and Recruitment Division sets up a partnership with the CHINA agency to facilitate recruitment for Chinese companies.
2001
The ONET Group turns a strategic corner. All the agencies of the Cleaning-Multiservices Division add a wide range of multiservices to complete their offer: local services and estate maintenance. The Cleaning-Multiservices Division thus strengthens its position as leader for Cleaning and related services in France.
2002
The denomination 'Activity Branches' is abandoned in favour of 'Activity Divisions'.
2007
ONET launches its services market to the person making the acquisition of FRANCE PRESENCE. The Group aims for a leading position in this sector. In October 2007, the four divisions of activities adopt new names: ONET Cleaning-Multiservices, ONET Technologies, ONET Security and Axxis Resources.
The ONET Group is today a key player in the corporate services sector. Its turnover exceeds 1.2 billion euros. It has a enrolled average of 48,000 employees spread over its 300 local agencies. The reactivity, imagination and professionalism of its teams mean it gives effective service to its increasingly numerous clients.
