Alternance: a "golden" solution
to enhance our expertise

Onet sees apprenticeship as a source of diversity and wealth for the Group.

Pierre Cerdan, Onet Recruitment and Inclusion Director

The integration of young people, through the work-study solution, gives them the opportunity to learn more about our businesses. Onet helps them to develop their experience. The recruitment, training and mentoring we offer them encourage them to continue working for our Group in the future. In this way, by enabling them to perfect their skills, we increase their expertise, and the expertise of our Group on a wider scale.

In 2021, we will have had the pleasure of supporting more than 750 work-study students within the Group.

Every year, we count on a large number of work-study students who become real experts. And for some, even champions!

When work-linked training brings the MOF title to the cleaning sector too

The know-how of the cleaning trades is also promoted by non-profit associations that recognize professional excellence on a national level. Such is the case with the Société nationale des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, founded in 1929, which promotes manual trades.

There is also a dedicated Cleanliness and Hygiene Agent section. The title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) or Meilleur Apprenti de France (BAF) is a further incentive to gain recognition in the profession.

Every year, a competition is held involving apprentices from all over France. Apprentices are required to carry out tasks such as mechanical washing with a scrubber-dryer, window maintenance and biocleaning, within a given timeframe, while complying with identified work protocols (preparation of equipment, condition of premises, respect for space, hygiene, safety and ergonomic rules, quality control of services, etc.).

Before the day of the competition, apprentices are accompanied by their company's apprenticeship masters, who pass on their expertise and help them to perfect their experience and commitment.

In 2021, for the 36th edition, Amadou Barry, our work-study student at the Onet Cleaning and Associated Services agency in Limoges, was crowned best work-study student/apprentice in France in the Gironde region, and finished2nd in the regional (Nouvelle-Aquitaine) hygiene and cleanliness category.

Cleanliness in the running for the Olympiad of trades

In the same vein as the MOFs, another competition, this time international, is organized.

This week, over 600 young people from all over France tested their skills in 64 different trades in Lyon, as part of the Olympiades des métiers competition, known abroad as the WorldSkills Competition.

It's a real opportunity to create a link between training courses and professions, and to promote the many areas of excellence among young people. It also highlights the talented expertise of the young people who practise their professions with passion.

At the end of the competition, winners are chosen from among the competitors, who represent the technical difficulties of their profession in conditions close to the reality of the workplace. Only the gold medallists can earn their place on the French Trades Team, and join the French Team for the international WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai (China) in 2022.

Onet is proud to have been able to support Valy Diarrassouba, a work-study student from INHI in Bruz (35), in this adventure at our Onet Cleaning and Associated Services branch in Nantes.

After winning the regional final of the 2020 Olympiades des Métiers in Brittany, in the cleaning category, Valy went on to the national final in Lyon. He won the silver medal in the cleaning category (service trades division).

A work-study BTS to train sector managers and obtain an open-ended contract

Onet understands that work-study programs are the key to operational excellence. The Group decided to launch its first promotion of Onet Area Managers.

In Normandie Hauts-de-France, the regional management has opened a BTS in Environmental Services (BTS MSE) 100% stamped Onet, created in partnership with GEIQ Propreté and INHNI, to train young people as sector managers.

"For this first Onet regional promotion, we wanted to rely on the motivation and commitment of young people who want to develop their skills through work-study. We are committed to supporting and guiding them in their career paths," says Aurélie Daime, Human Resources Manager for the Normandy-Hauts-de-France region.

In addition to the expertise available to our managers, they are also trained in tutoring to support the work-study students we welcome into our branches.

As referents, they also take part in training modules, in partnership with INHNI.

Accompanied by our branches in Compiègne, Arras, Beauvais, Valenciennes, Loon Plage, Caen, Cherbourg, Lille, Évreux, Barentin and Amiens, since the beginning of January, with 3 days on the job and 2 days at the CFA in Rouen, 12 students have been training for this diploma course (bac +2 level ).

This training also gives them the possibility of being appointed to a permanent position at the end of the work-study contract.
