Marie Wattel
Marie Wattel, an outstanding swimmer, discovered her passion for swimming in Mauritius, where her family stayed for three years. On her return to France, she joined the Club des Dauphins d'Annecy, excelled in the butterfly and went on to achieve international records and debuts under the watchful eye of Vanessa Brouard.
In 2012, she joined Olympique Nice Natation under Fabrice Pellerin, immersing herself in top-level competition and winning national titles. Her journey takes her to Latin America for her first international competitions before she settles in Loughborough, combining studies and intensive training, building her confidence and maturity.
Her performances at international level are growing, with success at the US Open in 2017 and medals at the European Championships. At the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, she wins her first world medal.
Despite the postponement of competitions due to the health situation, Marie Wattel shines in the International Swimming League, winning her qualifications and titles at the European Championships. She distinguished herself by reaching the final of the 100 m butterfly, improving her own French record and positioning herself among the world's best in the freestyle events.
