Together
for a cleaner sea

A look back at the5th Clean-up Operation of the Bay of Catalans

Thanks to the support of the association " 1 Déchet par Jour " and alongside our partner the Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille, Onet contributed to a citizen initiative that brought together more than 130 participants.

The event, which is perfectly in line with Onet's vision as an impact company, made it possible to raise awareness among its employees and coastal users about the preservation of marine ecosystems.

The results of the cleaning

  • Total Weight Collected: 165 kg
  • Butts: 20,000 units
  • Plastic: 30 kg
  • Wood: 6 kg
  • Textile: 18.5 kg
  • Paper / Cardboard: 6.5 kg
  • Metal: 8.5 kg
  • Glass: approx. 65 kg

Despite the frequent actions carried out in this area, the results illustrate the extent of the pollution and the importance of continuing to raise public awareness for sustainable change.

Fabrice Amedeo:
a commitment to Onet's side for the ocean

During our5th edition, the clean-up operation of the Bay of Catalans also benefited from the presence of the navigator Fabrice Amedeo, supported by Onet and committed to the protection of the oceans. The latter has just launched its new educational booklet entitled "L'Écho des Océans". This second booklet, in partnership with the National Education and the Fondation de la Mer, aims to raise awareness among children from CP to 6thgrade about the preservation and beauty of the oceans.

This book is designed as a "resource tool" for teachers and parents.

The partnership between Fabrice Amedeo and Onet, which began in 2019 with the scientific project #OceanCalling, is based on cooperation with the international scientific community, aiming to collect oceanographic data using scientific sensors on board its Imoca.

Our partnership is marked by a concrete commitment alongside Onet's employees, with actions such as visits to Imoca, conferences and interventions in the schools of the employees' children. These actions not only raise awareness among the youngest, but also strengthen the links between the project and all the participants, by involving them directly in the mission of preserving the oceans. Being present at their side during these initiatives is essential for Fabrice Amedeo and Onet, because it testifies to the importance of our actions.

Fabrice Amedeo travels the oceans in international races such as the Route du Rhum and the Transat Jacques-Vabre, and he is currently preparing for the 2024 Vendée Globe, which is scheduled to start on 10 November.

This work of collecting data while participating in these races reinforces the impact of the project and underlines the importance of uniting sporting and responsible efforts for the protection of the oceans.
