Fabrice Amedeo raises awareness among Onet employees at the launch of his new IMOCA boat

Onet x Fabrice Amedeo: awareness-raising sailings for Group employees, surveys in the Mediterranean for analysis and the launch of the new IMOCA, more and more concrete actions to preserve the oceans.

Since 2020, Fabrice Amedeo has been working to preserve our oceans alongside the Onet Group, which supports the navigator's scientific project as well as his #OceanCalling endowment fund.

Onet x Fabrice Amedeo, a constantly evolving scientific project

Fabrice Amedeo's scientific project to better understand the consequences of global warming and plastic pollution on the oceans continues to gain momentum. In collaboration with renowned institutions such as Ifremer, Université de Bordeaux and IRD, Fabrice Amedeo is conducting oceanographic measurement campaigns. The latest results highlight the urgent need for action in the face of the alarming increase in microplastics and cellulose microfibers. In order to gather new data, our navigator, who has once again come to meet Onet employees in Marseille, has taken seawater samples at several points in the harbor during introductory sailings.

The aim was to send samples to Tame-Water, a Nantes-based company specializing in innovative solutions for water quality analysis, in order to determine the toxicity of chemical substances present in salt water, by measuring their impact on living organisms.

On the program: introduction to sailing and awareness-raising

Employees were given the opportunity to take part in sailing trips with committed yachtsman Fabrice Amedeo. On Saturday July 8 and Sunday July 9, in the harbor of Marseille, Onet teams boarded a Jeanneau 64, a cruising yacht of the same size as the IMOCA, to introduce employees to sailing. This experience gave participants the opportunity to exchange views with the skipper, learn more about his offshore adventures, discuss shared commitments and recall the next major milestones in the scientific and sporting project as part of the Onet x Fabrice Amedeo partnership.

Fabrice Amedeo shares his ambitions with Onet employees just a few days before the launch of his new IMOCA.

As the navigator's new IMOCA touches water for the first time today, Wednesday July 12, Fabrice Amedeo came to express his ambitions to Onet Group employees. Less than eight months after the Route du Rhum, this launch represents a victory and a new beginning for the navigator. The new IMOCA, based on an old, modernized boat, is in line with Fabrice Amedeo's scientific project and values. Simple, light and reliable, it reflects his humility in the face of the elements and his desire to sail responsibly.

The new boat will also become a veritable laboratory vessel at the service of the scientific community. Equipped with oceanographic sensors, it will collect essential data on CO2, salinity, temperature, microplastics and environmental DNA. What's more, with its 15 m2 of solar panels, Fabrice Amedeo's new IMOCA will be an ambassador for the energy transition, aiming to sail around the world without fossil fuel.
