Mobility: our solutions to make daily life easier for our employees and help the planet!

Every day, our employees commute to and from work. Commuting to and from work is therefore one of the major challenges of sustainable mobility, and one of the prerogatives of the French Mobility Orientation Act (LOM). According to an Insee report published in 2019, 7 out of 10 employees go to work by car. So, to continue satisfying our employees' freedom of movement while seeking to reduce the impact of the means of transport used on the environment, we are implementing alternative solutions aimed at reducing the number of cars on the road and avoiding autosolism.

Onet Blablacar partnership

A shared commitment between public policy and business

We have been committed to improving mobility for many years, and have implemented a number of initiatives through our various mobility plans, such as the provision of shuttles and buses, and the promotion of car-sharing. As an example of our involvement, as soon as the Laure law was enacted in 1996, we deployed atmospheric protection plans to monitor air quality. At the heart of our concerns, these issues have prompted us to embark on a major project aimed at implementing an energy transition strategy to 2030. This transition is in line with the LOM and Climat laws.

Promoting the well-being and safety of our teams during their journeys while supporting them in their efforts to achieve sustainable mobility

Travelling can be a source of fatigue, stress and anxiety. That's why we put in place solutions for our employees, such as assistance in using public transport, awareness-raising sessions on road risks, and partnerships to offer car-pooling solutions.

Nathalie Da Silva - Onet  "We want to support our employees in changing their mobility habits. Tomorrow's means of transport are gentle, multimodal modes that reduce our impact, which is why they are more sustainable",  Nathalie Da Silva, Onet's Road Risk Prevention & EcoMobility Manager.

Focus on carpooling: facilitating shared use of the car

Sharing the same vehicle for the same journey (or part of the journey) to reduce the number of cars on the road is the principle behind carpooling. The idea is to optimize transportation by bringing together people who are making the same journey.

"All I have to do is carpool one day a week to halve my impact on the environment. I'm convinced that if you want to take action for sustainable mobility, you have to put an end to "autosolism", i.e. one-person-one-car travel. At Onet, we want to open up the field of possibilities and show our employees the options available to them. Carpooling is one way in which we can help them to act together. Nathalie Da Silva, Onet Road Risk Prevention & EcoMobility Manager.

Carpooling means reducing the number of vehicles on the road. This has the immediate effect of reducingCO2 emissions. Indeed, a car that is not on the road "actively" contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. What's more, it reduces the number of traffic jams, which are particularly "energy-hungry".

#Words from carpoolers

Marie Semette, Quality Manager (driver) & Bernadette Barrat, Payroll IS Functional Expert (passenger), have been carpooling to Onet's headquarters in Marseille for several years. As neighbors, they make this journey several times a week, and it seemed obvious to them to share this trip.

For Marie: "The positive side is that time passes more quickly, it's pleasant and, as a bonus, it's good for the planet!

As for Bernadette: "It's practical and not complicated! I can also count on two other carpoolers in my department with whom I make the trips when Marie and I don't have the same schedules!

Optimize connections between drivers and/or passengers!

"We were looking for a partner who could connect drivers and passengers to come and bring more visibility to carpoolers within our Group. In 2019, we turned to the French leader in shared mobility: BlaBlaCar, which connects drivers traveling with free spaces with passengers looking for a ride," explains Nathalie Da Silva.

With its BlaBlaCar Daily application, the operator is focusing on "everyday journeys", connecting private individuals, Onet employees if they so specify, and other users if they so wish, to share the cost of their journeys, while reducing their ecological footprint and traffic jams.

"Carpooling on everyday journeys is practical, economical, safe and environmentally friendly. Our BlaBlaCar Daily solution is innovative and represents a 100% winning solution for companies wishing to switch to carpooling! We've noticed that their attractiveness is boosted, and that social ties are strengthened thanks to this gentle, green form of mobility. We therefore worked with Onet to remove the specific obstacles to daily carpooling, such as managing schedules, to enable this practice to develop on a large scale ", explains Lucie Hubert, Manager of BlaBlaCar Daily Entreprises.

How does it work?

Simple and intuitive, each employee downloads the application from the Apple Store and Google Play. In their profile, they enter the name of their company, in this case "Onet", to indicate that they belong to the Group - a key factor in bringing people together and building trust - as well as whether they are a driver or a passenger. Users then enter their home and work addresses and their weekly working hours, and the application searches for available carpoolers, making proposals according to their individual possibilities and constraints. " In this way, our employees can find other employees in the same geographical area who make the same journeys as they do," explains Nathalie Da Silva.

A partnership with benefits for our mobilized employees

To encourage this type of approach and enable some to try carpooling, Onet employees benefit from financial and other advantages.

For example, all Group drivers receive a €15* fuel card(see conditions) following their1st trip. For passengers, the first 4 journeys are offered by BlaBlaCar Daily!

"By carpooling with BlaBlaCar Daily, you can save up to €220 a month on vehicle and fuel costs. The amount of compensation is calculated according to the distance covered and the number of passengers. For passengers, the average cost of a trip is €1.5. A cheaper fare than a public transport ticket, with the added advantage of great flexibility in scheduling!" points out Lucie Hubert, Manager of BlaBlaCar Daily Entreprises.

But carpooling isn't just about sharing costs - it's about more than that! "Carpooling to and from work has a positive impact on the environment. It's an opportunity to change one's everyday life... 50% of carpoolers say they have changed their mind on the subject following a carpool ," explains Nathalie Da Silva, Onet's Road Risks & EcoMobility Prevention Manager.

This car-sharing solution for our employees is in line with the Group's commitment to becoming a company with an impact, by acting for both the planet and people.
