Onet Iberia goes back to school with El Semillero project

In 2022, Onet Iberia's international management team is launching El Semillero, a project to promote integration through literacy. These workshops are part of our drive to limit our environmental footprint while developing the social footprint of our subsidiaries.

Since July, El Semillero has been based on a partnership with the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul association, well established in Spain. Knowing how to read and write is the key to integration," explains Natalia Macias, Training, Recruitment and HR Development Manager. Although illiteracy is low in Spain, some people, particularly migrants, need to learn our language. Our teams are made up of employees of all nationalities, so we had to take a stand on these issues.

Workshops and cultural outings

In addition to the courses offered by the association in Madrid, Onet Iberia organizes monthly two-hour workshops on everyday topics. Drawing up a CV, applying first-aid techniques, dealing with administrative formalities, knowing your rights, learning to do-it-yourself - everything is open thanks to volunteer employees sharing their skills and passions.

For cultural outings, Onet Iberia calls on its customers, creating a second link with the association. The 30 students have already visited Madrid's railway museum and enjoyed film screenings with their families, in partnership with our customer's in-house project, Yelmo Cinemas.

The first few months have been very positive: "Our students are counting on us, and more and more volunteers from all departments are proud to represent Onet in this meaningful project," concludes Natalia Macias. The next step is to extend the initiative beyond Madrid. This "Pépinière", a translation of Semillero, marks an important stage in the appropriation of the impact enterprise approach by each of the subsidiaries.
