Over 260 kilos of garbage collected
during our clean-up operation!

Onet Group employees once again got involved in a major clean-up operation on Marseille's Quai Marcel Pagnol, organized in partnership with the Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille and the association 1 Déchet par Jour.

A 6th clean-up operation in a spirit of solidarity and commitment

This was already our 6th operation to clean up the Marseilles coastline, in line with the actions undertaken by the Onet Group to protect the environment and raise awareness among its employees. In fact, they all took part on a voluntary basis, some of them accompanied by their families, alongside our Chairman of the Board Onet, Emilie de Lombarès.

We provided all the volunteers with everything they needed to carry out this mission: tongs, gloves, bags, as well as gift packs including Fabrice Amedeo's educational booklets, to enable participants, young and old, to learn more about marine ecology.

Fabrice Amedeo, a loyal and inspiring supporter

Our navigator Fabrice Amedeo was also on hand to support the volunteers and share his latest scientific discoveries.

A Vendée Globe finisher, he is preparing to take on a new sporting and environmental challenge, this time as part of a team: the Course des Caps.

Through his speech and convivial exchanges, he raised participants' awareness of the importance of preserving the oceans and of research intoenvironmental DNA, an innovative tool for analyzing marine biodiversity.

In particular, he pointed out that his previous surveys at sea had revealed an alarming condensation of cellulose fibers in samples of residues coming mainly from textiles and synthetic garments.

Key figures for the collection day

Thanks to everyone's efforts, 262 kg of garbage were collected from the harbour. A clear indication of the extent of the pollution:

  • Glass bottles: 308
  • Plastic bottles: 386
  • Cans: 362
  • 172 plastic bags banned since 2016
  • 3,000 cigarette butts
  • 80 pieces of textile - a worrying volume, with a direct impact on our natural environment

Onet x Fabrice Amedeo

This operation is fully in line with the partnership between Onet and Fabrice Amedeo, which is based on three pillars: raising awareness, providing information and taking action. Through concrete initiatives such as this one, educational actions and support for Fabrice's scientific races.
