Fabrice Amedeo's boat out of the water: a colorful new season ahead.

On Friday February 5, our navigator's IMOCA was taken out of the water and put in the yard for repairs and checks in a hangar at La Base des sous-marins in Lorient. Fabrice Amedeo and his team are getting ready for the new season, and will be taking advantage of the opportunity to completely repaint the monohull.

Looking to the future

Fabrice Amedeo is preparing for the coming season, with the Transat Jacques Vabre this autumn as his main objective. To prepare for this, his IMOCA has been put in the yard for repairs and checks, while the hull is being repainted. What's on the agenda? Dismantling the electronics, computers and hydraulics. "We're going to send them to our various service providers so that they can carry out checks and repairs before shipping them to us," explains the skipper. At the same time, his team will be busy repainting the entire hull.

I've been looking forward to this start of construction," confides Fabrice. With it, the 2021 season gets underway. I'm looking forward to the Transat Jacques Vabre at the end of the year and all the other things we'll be doing between now and then. We're not going to be doing any major upgrades to the boat, just a thorough check of all its key components. On the other hand, we are going to strip down the boat and repaint it. That's a big job. It's important to start out with new colors to kick-start this new cycle, which will take us all the way to the Vendée Globe 2024.
