Large-scale litter clean-up operation on Catalans beach

The Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille and the Pure Océan Foundation organized a litter clean-up operation in the Baie des Catalans on Saturday September 4, in conjunction with the IUCN World Conservation Congress.

A socially responsible event to protect the environment, which is fully in line with our ambitions to be a company with an impact, and with which we are fervently associated.

A look back at a day dedicated to preserving the oceans and the planet, with guest of honor navigator Fabrice Amedeo, who completed his "Tour de France des microplastiques en Méditerranée" (Tour of France of microplastics in the Mediterranean), the 2nd part of which he began on August 18.

A citizen action to preserve our environment

The operation, initiated by the Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille and the Pure Océan Foundation, had several aims: to collect and raise awareness of the impact of pollution linked to aquatic waste.

Numerous associations were also present: Association MerTerre, René Heuzey's Un Océan de Vie, UCPA... This vast clean-up operation enabled the 50 Onet employees who volunteered to collect no less than 624Kg of waste.

The figures for the 2021 clean-up of the Bay of Catalonia

In all, 132 masks, 495 glass bottles, 450 plastic bottles and 547 aluminum cans, 3 scooters and over 30,000 cigarette butts.

These are alarming figures, which are increasingly polluting the world's oceans and seas.

Onet goes to war against plastic

Aware of the growing impact of plastics on the quality of ecosystems, we have decided to take concrete action in our core business.

Biogistic: a concrete commitment!

In 2017, we changed the logistics of our core business by implementing the Biogistic solution. Based on a simple principle, Biogistic enables empty bottles to be reused, thus avoiding throwing them away and considerably reducing plastic consumption. This change has enabled us to reduce our plastic consumption by 1/3 on conventional cleaning services. As a result, the logistical organization of cleaning services has been completely overhauled, from the purchase of products to their use.

Reducing your ecological footprint with Biogistic means :

  • Ultra-concentrated products for reduced transport andCO2 emissions,
  • Biodegradability twice as fast as the Ecolabel standard,
  • Reused containers for less plastic waste.

# Biogistic key figures

  • 20 tonnes of plastic in one year,
  • + 2 million plastic bottles not thrown away over the next 5 years,
  • 30% reduction in plastic waste on conventional cleaning services,
  • 73% by the end of 2019 of eco-responsible products in our core business: commercial cleaning.

Alongside Fabrice Amedeo

We have signed a three-year partnership agreement to support Fabrice Amedeo's scientific project.

Thanks in particular to our support, he has been able to install oceanographic sensors on board his boat, enabling him to collect data at sea to help scientists better understand the impact and consequences of global warming and greenhouse gases on the oceans.

Fabrice's project is fully in line with our Group's values of listening, respect and boldness, which underpin every one of our actions and are shared by all our employees. Across all our businesses, we play a part in preserving resources. We are convinced that each and every one of us, at our own level, must provide innovative and responsible responses to the major challenges of today and tomorrow. That's why we are so keen to support this project, which is part of our commitment to preserving biodiversity.
