Spotlight on Fabrice Amedeo's oceanographic sensor on World Oceans Day
On this symbolic day, Fabrice Amadeo installed the extension to his oceanographic sensor on his monohull. Just a few days after the fastidious winter refit, this launch officially launched our commitment with the skipper to the preservation of the oceans.
As a reminder, our commitment to Fabrice Amedeo focuses on supporting the scientific project presented at World Ocean Day 2020. Fabrice Amedeo was interviewed by numerous media on the theme of "innovation for a sustainable ocean".
Innovation, notably with the introduction of new techniques such as in situ data collection. This environmental project, which we support, is carried out by the oceanographic sensor on Fabrice Amedeo's boat.
Its aim is to measure CO2, temperature and salinity, and to calculate the level of microplastics in the water during its forthcoming offshore races. This is a real step forward in our joint commitments in the run-up to the Vendée Globe, whose course will provide invaluable data. This data will be made available to the international scientific community, contributing to a better understanding of the impact of global warming and pollution on the oceans.
In partnership with a number of institutes, the data collected on board will be analyzed and made available in open source to the international scientific community.
