Internal mobility: developing and supporting our employees' skills

For several years, the Onet Group has been committed to promoting internal mobility.

With a corporate culture based on people and proximity, Onet encourages and supports its employees in their desire for functional or geographical mobility.

So one of the main challenges is to develop skills while remaining as close as possible to customer requirements.

Internal mobility is therefore a key tool not only for development, but also for adapting skills to market trends and customer expectations.

As a responsible employer, we must put in place all the tools needed to maintain the internal and external employability of our employees, while enabling them to play an active role in their own development.

Promoting internal mobility among Group employees

Capitalizing on employees' knowledge and skills is a real challenge. To this end, and in order to raise awareness of the Group's different professions, initiatives to promote internal mobility have been implemented.

Every week, the Group HR department sends current job offers to all employees throughout France, so that they can take note of them and, if they wish, apply for a position before the job offer is advertised externally.

All positions are communicated transparently. This means that employees have full control over their mobility.

Supporting new career paths

The diversity of Onet's professions offers a wide range of career prospects.

Onet's mobility policy aims to reconcile employees' wishes with the Group's objectives. Each internal mobility process includes HR support and follow-up by the manager.

Skills development can take several forms, depending on the position and the job in question: from updating knowledge to setting up appropriate training courses, or even diploma courses via Onet University.

Encouraging career paths and building trust

By encouraging mobility in all its forms, the Group aims to develop the acquired skills of its employees while bringing diversity to its teams.

For Antonin Bertaud du Chazaud, in charge of internal mobility within the Group's Human Resources Department:

"Supporting employees in building their career paths must make sense".

Internal mobility therefore enables employees to capitalize on their experience in the field, and to contribute their approach, culture and know-how. This reciprocal mark of trust stimulates career development and provides a rewarding and fulfilling professional experience.

Frédéric Nulli, Eastern Regional Operations Manager

Frédéric Nulli joined Onet in 2003 as Operations Manager at an Onet Technologies branch in Metz, following the buyout of a company he had worked for. He was in charge of hydrodynamic services in France, as well as radiation protection, logistics and cleaning at the 3 Eastern France nuclear power plants (Fessenheim, Choo, Cattenom).

Five years later, the management of Onet technologies offered him the position of site manager at the Gravelines nuclear power plant in northern France, a key position in the management of a large number of service providers. His experience in this position enabled him to join the Saint-Alban nuclear power plant in the Rhône-Alpes region in 2010.

On the strength of his experience in the field, Frédéric expressed his desire to change functions and horizons. In order to redirect his career path, while continuing to be an Onet employee, he was able to enroll in the engineering diploma program at the Saint Etienne Ecole des Mines, which enabled him to progress to a position as Offer and Sales Manager in Onet Technologies' Sales Department, in 2015. He thus made the transition from operations to sales.

Being physically based in one of Onet's multi-skilled branches gave Frédéric a better insight into the Group's other businesses. As his desire to return to operations (and to Metz) grew stronger, Frédéric kept an eye out for internal offers. In 2016, he applied for a position as branch manager in the healthcare department in Metz. He soon realized that his experience of over ten years in the nuclear sector would help him to get to grips with this new sector. Two years later, he took over management of an Onet Accueil branch.

Since 2020, Frédéric has held the position of Regional Operations Manager within the Eastern Regional Division of the Onet Services Network.

I'm lucky enough to work for a large group, which means I can take advantage of opportunities that may arise tomorrow or in several months' time. You shouldn't hesitate to take the plunge and change jobs. It's easy for us to see internal advertisements, and we shouldn't hesitate to talk about them during interviews with managers, because they're keen to see their staff evolve. Things happen naturally afterwards, just like in a job interview: you talk to human resources and then to your manager. You're then supported as you take up your new duties, whether it's with the teams, who give you an incredible welcome and integration every time; or with the managers, who help you hone your skills through training. I was lucky enough to be able to take the MCR training course at Onet University and graduate in 2018. Internal mobility is a great opportunity! You shouldn't tell yourself that you can't move from one entity to another, it's possible you just have to want it and believe in it. Don't be afraid to do it. I recommend employees to try this adventure. It's a real win-win situation for both the employee and the company.

Sylvain Chabert, Head of Management Control for Onet's Operations and Training Division Technologies

Sylvain Chabert joined the Group in 2004, starting out as a consolidator, a key position in the accounting-finance department, which involves consolidating all the figures for all the Group's companies and drawing up a financial analysis. This position also enabled him to work on acquisitions, mergers and disposals.

After more than 14 years in this position, and convinced of his experience, his manager offered him the chance to move up to the position of Accounts Closing Manager. Sylvain's manager provided him with support and training to help him make the most of his new position.

In particular, he was able to follow one of Onet University's management courses to help him fulfil his new role and manage the team for which he was now responsible.

In May 2020, he was offered a new opportunity. Motivated by a desire for change and the need for a position as close to the field as possible, Sylvain applied for an internal mobility vacancy.

After updating his CV, he had an interview with the Human Resources Manager, who checked his suitability for the position, and a few days later, an interview with his future manager. As a result, he is now in charge of management control for Onet Technologies' operations and training department.

"Internal mobility enabled me to change jobs and stay with a Group I love, while putting my skills into practice and keeping what I love to do. When I talked to my peers, I immediately wanted to take the plunge. This new experience puts me in even more direct contact with operational people, and also gives me an insight into the nuclear industry. Thanks to the confidence and encouragement of my two managers (the one I was leaving and the one I was joining), my continuation within the Group was a success. It's a very positive outcome!
