Fabrice Amedeo: crossing the Nemo point, supported by our employees!

In the immensity of the South Pacific, Fabrice Amedeo, skipper of Nexans - Wewise, has reached a symbolic and unique milestone in his Vendée Globe: Point Nemo, the most isolated place on the planet. This mythical passage, more than 2,688 km from any inhabited land, marks a high point in his adventure, where the man and his boat can only rely on themselves. However, thousands of miles away, Onet Group employees are behind him, supporting him during this extreme crossing.

Direct from the Pacific

On his 65ᵉ day of racing, Fabrice has one goal: to reach Cape Horn in a few days' time, a strategic turning point in the race. Alongside his sailing, Fabrice is continuing his scientific mission by dropping oceanographic buoys designed to collect data on pollution and climate change. This commitment resonates with the values of the Onet Group, particularly committed to responsible and environmental initiatives. Committed to his third Vendée Globe, Onet has been supporting Fabrice since 2019.

With the Group's help, he is leading the Ocean Calling scientific project, aimed at collecting oceanographic data thanks to sensors on board his Imoca, measuring temperature, salinity, CO₂ levels and the presence of microplastics. This information, invaluable to the international scientific community, contributes to a better understanding of marine pollution.

Ocean wishes for 2025

From his boat, Fabrice Amedeo sent a strong message to Onet Group employees at the start of the new year. In a live video broadcast from the open sea, he shared his wishes for 2025, underlining our shared values.

This Vendée Globe is an extraordinary human and sporting adventure. Thanks to your support, I feel buoyed up with every mile I sail. Thank you for your energy, which is with me every day!

An inspiring message that resonated with the Onet teams, who are proud to support this ambassador for ocean preservation.

Onet employees: essential support

In this solo adventure, Fabrice Amedeo is never really alone. Onet's teams are passionately following his progress, sending messages, encouragement and words of support to help him face the challenges of the Deep South. Fabrice knows he can count on Onet and its employees, who volunteer on his beach clean-up initiatives, and are present on the pontoons at race start villages and at his finishes.
