Onet and Airbus commit to the inclusion of people with disabilities

Since 2017, Onet has been working with the adapted company YMCA as part of an Aircraft Cleaning contract for anAirbus production site.

What's at stake in this partnership?

Combining the professional inclusion of people with disabilities and industrial performance.

Gilles Boursin, director of the Onet Cleaning and Associated Services Toulouse Ouest agency, and Pascale Eymery,YMCA general manager, look back on a richly rewarding human and professional partnership.

Could you describe the collaboration between YMCA and Onet for Airbus?

Gilles Boursin

This collaboration is part of a GME (Groupement Momentané d'Entreprises) contract for the cleaning of an Airbus production site. As the contract holder, we have entrusted YMCA's teams with floor cleaning. For their part, our employees maintain the interiors of the aircraft and production offices.

Pascale Eymery

In particular, we're in charge of cleaning the assembly areas, a highly strategic service since it involves avoiding any risk of punctures when moving the aircraft.

How have you adapted your workstations to accommodate people with disabilities?

Pascale Eymery: At YMCA, we look for the right match between our employees' medical restrictions and the positions they work in. In the context of this contract, our floor cleaning mission enables us to use machines and avoid ergonomically delicate positions. Cabin operations, which are more complicated, are entrusted to Onet employees.

Gilles Boursin: We work in the same way with our disabled employees, around twenty of them at Airbus. Some of them are part of the management team. We also adapt positions at the end of their careers.

What are the advantages of such a partnership?

Gilles Boursin: Firstly, it enables us to meet our commitments and those of Airbus in terms of the integration of disabled people. What's more, we're learning a lot from this collaboration, both in human and organizational terms.

Pascale Eymery : In fact, the collaboration between our two teams is very rich, with an interesting complementarity. In addition, driven by Airbus' technical requirements, our teams have increased their skills.

How would you sum up this collaboration?

Gilles Boursin: We've had excellent results: we've learned to work together very quickly and efficiently to meet Airbus' requirements!

Pascale Eymery : Yes, we have demonstrated over the years that we can combine a human concern for inclusion with industrial performance. In fact, Airbus is very satisfied: our contract has been renewed.

What are the strengths of your services?

Pascale Eymery : Like all our customers, Airbus emphasizes the motivation of our teams and their efforts to give their best. At Airbus, our employees have often fought to get back to work after suffering a disability during their lives: they are attached to their mission. The presence of our employees enhances the value of their work for the other teams... And develops solidarity!

Gilles Boursin: We agree: it's a great human adventure for our teams. In fact, since 2022, we have been using YMCA to clean our premises in collaboration with our employees.

How does this partnership reflect a strong commitment on the part of Airbus and Onet?

Pascale Eymery : We've been working for Airbus for 20 years: we've seen the cause of inclusion of people with disabilities grow within the group. Airbus is entrusting us with increasingly demanding missions, and the use of co-contracting enables us to participate in numerous contracts.

Gilles Boursin: We're also committed to this cause: at our Toulouse branch, our employment rate for disabled workers is 11.5%, whereas the regulatory requirement is 6%. This cause is one of the Group's CSR priorities.

Onet's CSR commitments at the Toulouse branch
