Bourse au Sport Onet!

Alexia Lacroix's first project, as part of Onet's "Let's Go" sports grant, was in wheelchair rugby with the organization of the Coupe des Alpes!

Alexia Lacroix brings her Coupe des Alpes project to fruition

The Onet "Let's Go" Sports Grant was designed to encourage our employees to pursue their sporting commitments and represent Onet in various competitions. The scheme offers financial support to the seven winners selected last July.

The Coupe des Alpes, presented by Alexia Lacroix, Group Operations and QSE Manager, is one of the projects supported by "Let's Go". It came to fruition on September 28 and 29, 2024 , despite some unexpected challenges. The event, now in its second year after a successful first in 2023, saw the participation of several international teams, including the Swiss, Italians, Toulon, as well as local club Bourgoin-Jallieu.

However, a few weeks before the event, bad weather in August 2024 damaged the flooring of the sports hall initially planned to host the competition. Faced with this unforeseen situation. In just 15 days, Alexia Lacroix and her team of volunteers were able to reorganize and revalidate the competition in an accessible and functional venue. This ability to adapt enabled them to maintain the momentum of the event and welcome the participating teams, while guaranteeing the practicality of the organization.

Alexia played a key role in managing all the logistics, including the rental of adapted vehicles to transport players and wheelchairs, as well as accommodation in PMR rooms (accessible to people with reduced mobility). With 21 volunteers present on the day, the team was able to orchestrate the smooth running of the event, drawing on its expertise in management and planning.

In sporting terms, the Bourgoin-Jallieu club shone during the 4 matches organized on Saturday and the 2 matches on Sunday morning, winning the competition. With a team of 8 players, they made all the difference against the opposing teams.

In addition to her role in organizing the Coupe des Alpes, Alexia is also heavily involved in the CSBJ Handisport wheelchair rugby section, where she has been a volunteer for 10 years. In particular, she manages the national championship phases, and would like to increase the number of matches in France.

A commitment that goes beyond sport

Alexia doesn't just organize sporting events for the club. She's also very active on the pitch, helping players with physical tasks such as transferring from wheelchairs to sports chairs, helping with preparation (putting on gloves, belts, hand tape), and even dealing with punctured wheels during matches.

Alexia describes her involvement in wheelchair rugby as a real fulfilment, explaining:

I went to training one day in January 2015, and never left. They've become friends.

Alexia's team not only succeeded in organizing the Coupe des Alpes, they also triumphed at the MED CUP in Toulon. The Bourgoin-Jallieu club is now preparing for the national 2 championship, which will take place in Niort from October 2024 to May 2025.

Her goal: to support her team in the challenges ahead.
