Transat Jacques Vabre 2023
Start under full sail with Fabrice Amedeo and Onet

Watch the highlights of our Onet x Fabrice Amedeo partnership for the Transat Jacques Vabre 2023.

A christening for civic commitment and ocean preservation

On Saturday, October 28, 2023, in a symbolic event to raise awareness of ocean protection, yachtsman Fabrice Amedeo christened his new IMOCA in Le Havre, in the presence of Christophe Béchu, Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, and his partners.

A meaningful ceremony

Fabrice Amedeo shared his enthusiasm by declaring:

This christening is a fine reward for my civic commitments: the oceanographic project that has been driving me for 5 years now, with the on-board sensors and collaboration with an increasingly large and international team of scientists, our educational project to raise awareness of ocean conservation among the younger generation, and our challenge to circumnavigate the globe powered by the wind and without the use of fossil fuels.

A postponed departure supported by Onet Group employees

On Tuesday November 7, Fabrice Amedeo and his competitors were able to leave the Paul Vatine basin after more than a week's wait, caused by storm Ciaran.

Following the postponement of the starts, the courses for the Transat Jacques Vabre have undergone adjustments for the three categories of boats entered. The IMOCA boats will now cover 3,765 miles via Santa Maria (Azores), with a scheduled finish in Martinique around November 17.

Meanwhile, many Onet Group employees left messages of encouragement for our navigator via a platform. Fabrice's sails are brimming with confidence for this new departure.

Onet x Fabrice Amedeo: a partnership to protect the oceans

At the starting village of the "Route du Café", the Onet Group organized a series of events to raise employee awareness of ocean preservation.

On Wednesday October 25, they had the opportunity to visit Fabrice Amedeo's IMOCA at the Transat Jacques Vabre starting village, located on the pontoons of the Bassin Paul-Vatine in Le Havre.

This experience allowed visitors to climb aboard the boat and discover the daily life of skippers during ocean races, as well as the onboard sensors financed by Onet, which collect crucial data such as plastic pollution levels, CO2, environmental DNA, salinity and water temperature. These measurements play a vital role in understanding the consequences of global warming and rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere.

Onet, partner since 2019 of the navigator, plays a key role in the realization of its oceanographic project #OceanCalling centered on the preservation of the oceans, and wishes good wind to the skippers for this new sporting and environmental adventure.
