Your mission

Onet Technologies supports the leading players in the French nuclear industry, both for reactors currently in operation and for the new EPR2 reactors. Against this backdrop of growth, computational services are a strategic asset for ensuring the safety, performance, and competitiveness of our projects.

To strengthen the technical oversight of its projects, the Reactor Calculations Unit is forming a team of 5 to 6 Technical Advisors covering the main areas of thermohydraulics and mechanical calculations.

The Technical Advisor serves as the on-site technical authority for the engineers assigned to projects. He or she defines and ensures the soundness of design strategies, guides engineers in their decisions, reviews deliverables, and acts as a liaison with architects and project managers.

Although he does not necessarily have direct supervisory authority, he exercises functional leadership based on his impeccable technical credibility, sound judgment, and ability to help teams grow. He also contributes to the department’s methods, standards, and core initiatives.

In this role, your responsibilities are as follows:

— Technical Supervision of Studies

• Define, challenge, and validate calculation or design strategies, assumptions, input data, methods, and acceptance criteria.

• Guide engineers in resolving technical challenges and building a robust demonstration.

• Organize milestone meetings and technical reviews at key points in the design process.

• Provide enhanced support to junior engineers and help them develop their skills.

• Ensure that technical decisions are understood, justified, documented, and tracked.

• Identify risks, inconsistencies, data gaps, and areas requiring resolution at an early stage.

• Help estimate the workload, the necessary skills, and the technical sequence of tasks.

 — Quality Assurance & Technical Excellence

Ensures the robustness, compliance, and verifiability of deliverables.

• Prepare, review, and verify calculation notes, supporting documentation, and complex deliverables.

• Verify the consistency of models, assumptions, results, margins, conservatism, and conclusions.

— Projects, Methods, and Knowledge Transfer Interface

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for architects, project managers, and work package managers.
• You may be called upon to serve as a work package manager yourself.
• Translate project objectives, constraints, and risks into a clear and realistic technical strategy.
• Propose well-reasoned options, explain their impacts, and promptly alert stakeholders in the event of deviations or deadlocks.
• Draft and refine design and calculation methods, guides, standards, models, and checklists.
• Capitalize on lessons learned, harmonize practices, and lead the technical community.

Your assets

You hold an engineering degree or a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, thermohydraulics, or nuclear engineering, and have approximately ten years of experience in the fields of engineering calculations or technical validation.

You have solid, recognized expertise in the field of mechanical calculations.

You are proficient in calculation methods, numerical modeling, and issues related to the design and validation of nuclear equipment.

You exercise your authority through your competence, your consistent standards, and the quality of your judgment.

Your technical skills must be impeccable: you know how to get to the bottom of an issue, recognize uncertainty, and never accept something as correct by default.

Ideally, you have experience in the nuclear industry and with computational software such as ANSYS WORKBENCH, APDL, and SYSTUS.

The position may be based in Marseille or Lyon.
