The job of asecurity dog handler, also known as a dog handler, involves ensuring the safety of people and property, in collaboration with a specially trained dog. Dog handlers combine human skills with the dog's natural aptitudes to successfully carry out their surveillance and guarding missions. Thanks to their training as dog handlers, these agents can work in a wide variety of sectors, including private security, where they play a key role in deterrence and vigilance. The use of a well-trained dog enhances private security on client sites, ensuring increased protection. Its missions include surveillance of public places, access control, and the removal of doubt in the event of a suspicious situation.

How do Ibecome a dog-handler?
To become a security guard, you need to follow a specific training program and meet certain legal requirements. Although no specific schooling is required, certain diplomas are an asset for this profession. However, it is necessary to hold a professional qualification as a dog-handling security agent.
What diploma would enable me to become a dog handler?
- Brevet professionnel agent technique de prévention et de sécurité (vocational certificate in prevention and security)
- Safety and prevention vocational baccalaureate
Although training is an important advantage, obtaining the TFP ASC is still a prerequisite for me to practice this profession. In fact, to become a security dog agentI must pass the Titre à Finalité Professionnelle d'Agent de Sécurité Cynophile before joining the company.
The TFP ACS, recognized by the French Ministry of Labor, certifies the theoretical and practical skills required to work as adog-handler. This certification covers surveillance techniques using a dog, crisis management and the application of safety instructions relating to the use of a dog. Without this qualification, it is impossible to obtain the professional card, issued by the Prefecture, required to work legally in private security with a dog. To qualify for this training, you need to be over 18, have a clean criminal record, a good command of French and basic numeracy skills.
